Sept. 19 - 21, 2014 Okanagan, BC
What is The Intrepid Stage Ride?
The "Intrepid" is like nothing you've ever seen or done (unless, of course, you're a former professional bicycle racer from the 1920's). Embodying the classical traditions and spirit of cycling, "The Intrepid" is the perfect two-wheeled finale to a season.
Breathtaking scenery and heart pounding thrills await those who dare to pursue personal and team success on this three-day multi-stage event; each day's rich reward include sumptuous meals, luxurious accommodation and fraternal gatherings.
You will experience some of the most incredible paths and roads less travelled in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley as you work to claim your own honours amongst a select group of like-minded adventurists.
Dispatches From The Field
Periodically we will send out dispatches that inspire us and keep you up to date on current developments with The Intrepid Stage Ride.
Provide your details below and we'll send you our Intrepid dispatches.
While the specific details of each day’s course will only be revealed closer to the event, riders can be assured that the carefully-curated route will include the best of the Okanagan.
Rolling hills giving way to majestic lake vistas and serene vineyards leading to heart-in-your-throat climbs; the route has been precisely planned to take advantage of the finest country roads the area has to offer.
The stages will offer challenges that will push you to discover your inner strength.
Though the journey of the Intrepid is challenging, your transportation to and from the event in the Okanagan need not. We have coach transportation for you and your trusty steed from and to Vancouver, and for those on a tighter timeline, Air Canada has hourly flights to and from Kelowna that allow you to work Thursday and be home Sunday night. We can even assist with bike and shuttle services.
The Intrepid is an intimate cycling experience; it is neither geared towards the novice rider nor exclusive to those with an elite riding pedigree.
The Intrepid is designed to challenge but is accessible to those with fortitude. Participants should train and be prepared and be confident in their capacity to complete the event. The 2013 inaugural year had a range of highly experienced cyclists to someone who had never completed a cycling event and had just over 500km's under his belt. Teamwork and the fraternity of the group allowed all starters in 2013 to complete each day and the entire course.
Those who can manage cycling a course between 120 - 170 KM that sees considerable elevation changes will comfortably be able to complete each day’s rigours, particularly given that riders are prone to getting stronger with each successive day. Keep in mind that you will not be alone, before, during or after the event. Extensive support will include, mechanical, medical, static and mobile aid, and a finely-honed nutrition plan.
Anyone who has completed a GranFondo, should feel comfortable registering.
